Food Access

It is our mission to broaden access to education, nutritious food, and local food system with our neighbors across the Chicago region. To improve healthy food access, we have stepped up our efforts to distribute our fresh harvest and kitchen meals to families who need it the most.

Since the onset of the pandemic in 2020, we have fed more than 10,000 local families facing food insecurity in Lake County with fresh, nutrient-dense food from Elawa Farm and our local farming community. This food is distributed at community organizations, food pantries, and churches across Lake County.

Our Partnerships

In addition, we donate our fresh harvest and garden seedlings on a weekly basis during the growing season to our partners, including Roberti Community House and Phoenix Rising Foundation. We partner with North Chicago Community Partners (NCCP) with our Soup & Bread Night in the winter. For each ticket sold at this community supper series, we donate a serving of our soup and bread to families served by NCCP’s weekly Family Care Closet program.
