Buttonhole Stitch Bookbinding Workshop
Saturday, March 21 11 am - 1 pm
Visual artist and educator, Regin Igloria, returns to Elawa Farm to continue his bookbinding series with a workshop on the buttonhole stitch. Ideal for sketchbooks and journals, this workshop showcases a versatile and functional book for multiple uses. The buttonhole stitch is a non-adhesive bookbinding method that allows for a continuous front-to-back cover format with multiple signatures.
Participants will be introduced to a variety of methods for creating unique books using traditional and repurposed materials. No previous experience is necessary, and all materials and tools will be provided. -

Back to Basics: Family Comfort Food with Chef Mickey Knutson (Demo Cooking Class)
Tuesday, March 24 6 pm - 9 pm
Join us for a lively cooking demonstration where both adults and kids are welcome to gather, watch, and learn together. In this class, Chef Mickey Knutson will walk through comforting favorites made entirely from scratch—no shortcuts, just simple techniques you can use at home. The menu includes crispy pan-fried pork and chicken schnitzels, creamy stovetop mac and cheese built on a classic roux, roasted broccoli finished with lemon and parmesan, and a warm chocolate pudding made as a true stirred custard.

Easter Table: A Spring Supper with Chef Mickey Knutson (Demo Cooking Class)
Tuesday, March 31 6 pm - 9 pm
Celebrate the flavors of the season with a special spring supper inspired by the traditions of Easter and the abundance of the farm. In this demo cooking class, Chef Mickey will prepare a beautiful three-course menu that highlights fresh ingredients, simple techniques, and classic dishes perfect for gathering around the table with family and friends.
We’ll begin with deviled farm eggs, elevated with fresh herbs and delicate trout roe. For the main course, enjoy mustard-crusted pork loin, served alongside warm cabbage and apple and crispy potatoes for a comforting yet elegant spring pairing. To finish the evening, we’ll prepare a bright and classic lemon tart with fresh berries, the perfect balance of sweet and citrusy to welcome the new season.

Sustainable Pest and Disease Management

Join our Edible Garden Specialist, Elaine Madansky, for an in-depth workshop on maintaining a healthy, thriving garden through effective pest and disease management. This class will cover essential topics, including Integrated Pest Management (IPM), identifying common garden pests and diseases, implementing preventative cultural practices, exploring non-chemical control methods, and understanding the responsible use of pesticides. April Showers & Watercolor Flowers with Evelyn Phelps

Join us for a relaxing afternoon of painting loose watercolor flowers. We will be painting a variety of flowers in a vase. You will learn the basic structure of several flowers while working on watercolor techniques.
This class is for all skill levels and no previous experience needed. You will leave with a completed painting!! -

Early Spring Greens and Cream with Chef Mickey Knutson (Demo Cooking Class)
Tuesday, April 7 6 pm - 9 pm
Celebrate the flavors of early spring in this seasonal demo cooking class. Watch as our instructor prepares a fresh and elegant three-course menu highlighting vibrant greens, bright herbs, and the first harvests of the season.
The menu features a chilled English pea & mint soup finished with crème fraîche, lemon oil, and fresh pea shoots. For the main course, enjoy Herb-roasted chicken with spring garlic & lemon, served alongside asparagus and fingerling potatoes with a light parsley pan jus. We’ll end on a sweet note with a rustic rhubarb & almond galette topped with vanilla whipped cream.

Market Vegetable Forward with Chef Mickey Knutson (Demo Cooking Class)

Celebrate the abundance of the season with a menu that puts fresh market vegetables at the center of the plate. In this demo cooking class, Chef Mickey will prepare a delicious three-course meal while sharing tips for highlighting seasonal produce, building layers of flavor, and creating satisfying vegetable-forward dishes.
We’ll begin with a warm morel & spring onion tart made with nutty gruyere and flaky pastry. The main course features a rich and comforting wild mushroom & barley risotto finished with asparagus tips, parmesan, and fragrant herb oil. To end the evening, enjoy a classic carrot cake with walnut & cream cheese frosting.

Transition from spring to summer with a fresh, seasonal menu highlighting vibrant vegetables and comforting favorites. In this demo class, Chef Mickey will prepare a delicious three-course meal while sharing tips for bringing out the best flavors of the season.
We’ll begin with burrata with roasted spring vegetables, featuring sweet peas, crisp radishes, and tender asparagus. The main course is crispy skin chicken thighs served over creamy polenta with sautéed spinach. To finish, enjoy a classic strawberry shortcake made with sweet cream biscuits and fresh strawberries.

Rainbow Fish: My Grown-Up & Me Cupcake Decorating
Saturday, April 11 12 pm - 2 pm
Join Annalise Atilano of Sweet B’s Bakeshop for a sweet and creative decorating experience designed for little ones and their grown-ups. In this hands-on class, you and your child will learn the basics of cupcake decorating while creating your own colorful Rainbow Fish–inspired cupcakes. Annalise will guide everyone step-by-step through simple decorating techniques in a relaxed and welcoming environment, making it easy and fun for even the youngest decorators to participate.
Each ticket includes six cupcakes to decorate (one shared set per grown-up and child pair). Together you’ll practice simple buttercream piping, add fondant and candy decorations, and create bright, shimmering rainbow fish designs. This class is perfect for beginners and young bakers. It’s all about creativity, connection, and making sweet memories together. Ages 2 and up are welcome, and each child attending must have a ticket (one grown up included per ticket.

Fairy Garden Cupcake Decorating
Sunday, May 17 12 pm - 2 pm
Step into a world of whimsy with Annalise Atilano of Sweet B’s Bakeshop in this hands-on cupcake decorating class designed for ages 9 and up. In Fairy Garden Cupcake Decorating, you’ll learn the fundamentals of decorating while creating your own magical woodland scene on cupcakes. No experience is necessary, our instructor will guide you step-by-step through each technique in a relaxed and supportive environment, making it fun and approachable for beginners and budding bakers alike.
During class, you’ll learn how to fill and use a piping bag, practice buttercream techniques to create grassy textures, and add edible “moss” details for a forest-inspired look. You’ll also shape and decorate charming fondant toadstools to bring your fairy garden to life. By the end of class, you’ll leave with a set of whimsical cupcakes that look like they came straight out of a storybook. All supplies are provided, and you’ll take home your finished creations along with the confidence to recreate these techniques at home. -

Come meet our curious and friendly chickens on a guided visit with Assistant Farm Manager, Georgia DeSilva! This hands-on experience will enable you to observe our chickens up close, learn about their unique personalities, and feed and pet them. Adventures at Elawa

Spring is here, and it’s time to dig in! In this hands-on gardening class, our youngest farmers will explore the magic of planting as we sow carrots and spinach seeds in the garden.
Children will learn what plants need to grow, practice using gentle “gardener hands,” and help prepare the soil before planting their very own rows of seeds. We’ll talk about how carrots grow underground and how spinach sprouts leafy greens above the soil. We will be getting our hands dirty so please come dressed appropriately.
