About Tim

Raised in Vermont and the island of Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts, Tim has lived his entire life in and around the hospitality industry. As soon as he could reach the dish-machine controls in the family’s ski area Inn, there was no turning back. This began a twenty-year restaurant life, which then led to a thirty-five-year career in the wine and spirits industry.

Robert Mondavi Winery (met wife Dina), then Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars (winner of the legendary “Paris Tasting” of 1976), onto Chateau Ste. Michelle (founding winery of Washington State) and finally, the Terlato family of Lake Bluff,  Tims role throughout his career was to work directly with all channels within each winery and distillery to teach the uniqueness and individuality of their entire portfolios to all levels of the marketplace.

Tim’s introduction to Elawa Farm came during his tenure at Terlato, where one of his favorite responsibilities was giving tours of the company headquarters, the former Philip Armour mansion in Lake Bluff. An important part of the Armour family legacy was their stewardship of the Elawa Farm property during the early-to-middle part of the twentieth century, Elawa was the families “gentleman’s farm”, where they enjoyed gardening, horseback riding and raising livestock while at their summer homes on the north shore.

Tim is thrilled to be part of the Elawa team during what is truly an exciting time at the farm!
